Faculty Development Fund

Professional development funding is available for faculty to assist with conferences or workshops, publication costs, subscription costs, continuing education credits, membership or association fees, and other similar activities that promote professional development. These funds are available once all other sources have been utilized.

  • Each faculty member is entitled up to $250.00 per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) to support the cost of these activities. The amount is based on a full time college-funded position (1.0 FTE).
    • Example A:
      • 0.5 FTE faculty member, that is fully college-funded, would receive $125.00 in professional development funding.
    • Example B:
      • 1.0 FTE faculty member, of which 0.25 is funded by the college and 0.75 is funded by research, would receive $62.50 in professional development funding.
  • This allocation will not carry forward. Funds are taken from the fiscal year (FY) in which they are expensed.  It is recommended that requests are received no later than June 1st, and purchases completed by June 10th, to be counted towards the current fiscal year.
    • Example:
      • Approval received 5/25/21 (FY21), purchase not completed until 7/10/21 (FY22).  This expense will be considered FY22, and will be deducted from the FY22 balance.

  • At the start of each academic year, faculty seeking professional development funds will complete the application through DocuSign.
  • Once you have completed the form, it will automatically route to the Assistant/Associate Dean for review. If approved, you will receive a copy of the completed form via email.
  • Please forward your approved application and relevant information to CHSFinance@asu.edu for purchasing assistance.

Please note that although professional development funds were previously available to assist with travel-related costs, due to COVID-19, travel is not currently permitted on university funds. For the latest information, please visit the ASU COVID-19 Guide.
